2010 Fifa World Cup Teams
Portugal
Surprisingly South Africa 2010 will only be Portugal's fourth time at the finals. Yet they'll be considered a genuine
contender to win despite finishing 2nd behind Denmark in their World Cup qualification group. Defensively though they were solid conceding only five goals in 10 games.
Their best effort in a World Cup finals was their first in 1966 where they finished third, with a squad that included
the legendary Eusebio. The two attempts after that were disappointing, going out on both occasions in the groups stage. 2006 saw them return to
the level expected by their fans and they finished 4th.
They have all the attributes required to get to the top at the World Cup. They can score goals, they don't like
letting them in, and they have some quality players with the skills to turn a game their way when required. It would
be unbelievable for them not to get out of their group, albeit they're in the Group of Death, and maybe they can get further than in '66.
