Mexico are a side with a long history in the World Cup but with not a lot to show for it, just two quarter-final placings their best effort and both remarkably on home soil. Like some other South American teams they show a lot of promise but never seem able to convert that when it comes to the finals.
El Tricolor certainly know how to score, putting five goals past both Panama and Guatemala during the qualifiers. And despite a couple of defeats Mexico have proved to be a hard team to beat on the road to Germany 2006.
