2010 Fifa World Cup Teams
Australia
This year's tournament sees Australia in their 2nd successive World Cup finals following a decent campaign in the 2006 Germany World Cup.
In 2006 the Socceroos made it through to the 2nd round, already their best performance at the tournament, and were unfortunate not to go further. Their 2nd round match against Italy made it to injury time with the score 0-0 and Italy down to 10 men when a suspect penalty was given to Italy. The Italians scored the penalty in the 95th minute and the game was drawn to a close and the rest as they say is history (big clue: Italy won the 2006 World Cup).
Current coach Pim Verbeek took over the Australian squad at the start of the qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup and led them successfully through two group stages of qualification. In fact they only lost 2 matches out of a total 14 qualification games.
Australia go into this tournament with plenty of confidence and will certainly look to build on their 2006 performance and have an outside chance of getting out of their qualifying group behind Germany.
