2006 Fifa World Cup Stadiums - Kaiserslautern

Kaiserslautern World Cup Stadium

The Fritz-Walter-Stadion was named after the Captain of the 1954 World Cup-winning German squad, but was originally built in 1920.

Home to 1.FC Kaiserslautern the stadium has been added to and modified over the decades, which is reflected in its architecture, and the latest extension for the 2006 World Cup was completed in late 2005.

Extensions were made to the West and South stands and the stadium also had its North stand reconstructed, with two towers, one media and one VIP, occupying the North corner.
